Dear Brothers and Sisters,
For some of us, summer’s family vacation has come and gone. For others, it is yet to come. But for all of us, there is much to be said about the need for a time of rest and relaxation. Indeed, when we take time out for rest and relaxation we are being very Biblical, very Godlike.
From time to time, our sagging spirits, our spinning heads, and our tired bones all need to be refreshed, relaxed, and renewed.
Many of us are reluctant to take time out for rest and relaxation. But whatever else that we may do for ourselves, our times of “getting away from it all” are treasured opportunities for us to take stock of our lives. We need to ask ourselves, “Am I really the kind of person God wants me to be? Am I really doing what God wants me to do? Am I really doing my best to make Christ visible in and through my life?”
It is time for us to ask ourselves, “What treasures do we have that can be shared with our community? Do we have talents that can serve Our Lady of the Lake that have been buried and surface as we take the time to reflect on all of the gifts that God has given us?”
My friends, it is important that we find that time. As we do, we will be well on our way to the Kingdom that God has promised every one of us.
God Bless,
Deacon Del
