Crusader Chronicle - Thursday, Aug. 10
Hello CtRCS Families,
I write to you at the start of Day Four of teacher in-service! We have had an engaging and fruitful three days so far. The CtRCS faculty joined the St. Thomas More faculty on Monday for professional development led by Sally Ogden. Sally is a veteran classroom teacher and national consultant for Love and Logic®. She is the author of, “No Thanks, I Just Had a Banana! – Responses to put downs, power struggles and button pushers.” Teachers were delighted to learn more about the major tenets of the Love and Logic® philosophy, along with ways to help students respond to criticism and cruelty.
We look forward to the remaining days of our in-service as we tackle the important work to prepare for Day One with our students. Whether that is the curriculum and instruction workshops we will be engaged in, or the nuts and bolts sessions we have to ensure a smooth, safe start to the year and beyond!
I realize many students are probably very excited to find out who their homeroom teachers will be this year. I am happy to announce that your child will be receiving a phone call sometime Friday or Saturday from his/her new teacher. Obviously, you as the parent may answer the phone, but we ask that you pass the phone along to your son or daughter so that he/she may hear from the teacher first hand! This should be a very short phone call and, again, just with the child. I have asked teachers not to share personal phone numbers with the community. Therefore they may be calling you as a “blocked number.” That’s a heads up so you will know to answer that call!
Finally, I would like to director your attention to our Parent-Student Handbook
), which has been updated for the 2017-18 school year. I ask that you review this important document carefully. Upon completion of your review, we ask that you print out the Signature Page along with the Technology Acceptable Use Policy (
both have been included as documents for your convenience
). You may bring these signed documents to Parent Night on Monday, Aug. 14. However, you have until Friday, Aug. 18 to return them to school.
We look forward to seeing all our parents this Monday night for our informative Parent Night meeting.

We'd love to have you help out! The C.A.R.E. Committee is still looking for people to adopt teachers. Each month, as a C.A.R.E. Crusader, you will secretly bring a gift to the front office for your teacher/staff member. These simple gifts let your faculty or staff member know how much you appreciate them. Have fun with it!
