St. Clare of Assisi
Teens Serving our Community! Pics
I can't even begin to imagine what many people have been through this past week; emotionally, physically, and psychologically. It has been, in many ways, heartbreaking. However, I know Houston is better this morning than it was yesterday. I know this because I have worked alongside our youth to contribute what we can in energy, enthusiasm, and hard work towards rebuilding our communities these past few days. I know several adults who have helped as well. I thank them and all those who have donated supplies such as garbage bags, tools, and lunches. The support is a beautiful example of our inner eagerness to Serve our neighbors as Jesus instructed us to.
As we move forward, together as St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church, I highly encourage you to attend Mass this weekend. You will have a chance to know what we, as a community, plan to do in the coming weeks as one heart and one mind under the direction of our Pastor, Fr. Vincent.
Our home was no exception to Harvey. I thank those who have reached out in support. However, my wife and I feel blessed in comparison to what others have lost. What is important here to share is that as couples, you do not lose sight of what is most important; your commitment to each other. In stressful times, it takes extra patience to look at the bigger picture. Keep positive and encouraging to those around you.
Lastly, I would like to share some pictures of the amazing work our teens have done these past two days. They are inspiring and a reflection of the program we have at St. Clare's. We helped 3 homes on Thursday. Yesterday we ventured to the CRC Retreat Center in Dickinson. This morning, many of them are at the Houston Food Bank which was organized by themselves; what a witness to their love of God the Father! I look forward to worshipping with you this weekend at Mass for all the hidden blessings Our Father has in store for us in the journey ahead.
For the Glory of the Father,
Director of Youth Ministry
