A note from Fr. Rick
There is no one who has influenced my thinking, preaching, and praying in the last year more than Peter Rollins. I've read all of his books, I've listened to hours and hours of him on podcasts and YouTube videos—and I am SO excited to have him here at St. Mark's this weekend to share him with all of you.
There are general admission tickets, which are sold at full price on Peter's website.
But, we are subsidizing tickets at 50% for St. Markers (and any friends you might invite
) and Episcopalians from local congregations. Please use the link at comegrow.org/peterrollins to register at the discounted rate.
He's doing three major things at St. Mark's.
Building On Fire (10AM-4:30PM) is a body of teaching that encompasses the core of his theological and philosophical work. He presents this teaching all over the world, usually to other theologians and clergy. Tony from The Liberty Cycle Cafe is going to be our barista for the day—so you will never be in any danger of falling asleep.
Pints & Parables, (7:30PM-9:30PM) is where you really get a sense of Pete's impish character and his remarkable ability to captivate with just a short story. In a format which resembles a stand up comedy night, he tells stories and parables which enchant and challenge our assumptions of the world. There will be a selection of craft beer and root beer available for a suggested donation.
St. Mark's Youth get in free, and will have all the root beer they can drink.*
*while supplies last
In Sunday Morning Worship (10AM), he'll bring his insight and wit into our liturgy with a sermon. At 9AM he'll also be hanging out with our youth in the parish hall for breakfast and a conversation.
See you this weekend!
