Our Lady of the Lake Rockwall
From the Desk of the Pastor
Happy Columbus Day. Thank you to our Knights of Columbus members. K of C is a wonderful Men's group that supports men, provides great service and is stellar in promotion of the priesthood.
I am heading out this morning on retreat with other priests of the diocese. Our seminarian, Mark Garrett, will be there too. He is in his Pastoral Year. That means that he is sent to a parish to live as a priest does and work in the parish to learn parish life. After that he is sent back to academics for two more years. I am excited to have some time with him to share his new experiences. Please keep him and all seminarians in your prayers. Please pray for me, especially while I am on retreat.
Last month I had an appointment with the Rockwall City Council about connecting Damascus Road to Murphy Drive. This meeting began a long process. The next step is that Mr. Rick Crowley, City Manager, is holding a meeting with the parish and the neighborhood separately. The Parish meeting is this Wednesday, October 11th, at 7:00pm in the Council Chambers at the Rockwall City Hall (385 S. Goliad). You are invited to attend. Show the city you are interested.
I believe that this connection of the roads is a matter of public safety. The Church is at the end of a dead end road with obvious limitations that most of us have experienced. Fr. Torm and I live near the dead end of Murphy Drive in Waterstone Estates. This development consists of 125 homes with only one access to Yellow Jacket. Again, this meeting is only for members of the parish, even if you reside out of the City of Rockwall.
Thank you for your support.
