Tomorrow we are observing Recovery Sunday for the second year in a row. For me, personally, I'll be thinking of my beloved friend Patrick, who succumbed to alcoholism. I'll also be thinking of my best friend Jeff, who's been in recovery for years.
You know people who are struggling with addiction, those who've lost their battle with this disease, and those who walk the road to recovery each day of their lives. We all know them. They are our friends, they are our family, they are our brothers and sisters in Christ. Tomorrow we will pray for them, and for those who work with and minister with them.
9AM in the Chapel
, Michael Pitman, a young man who grew up locally and who went to Ridge
will talk to our youth
about his journey of recovery.
we will hear from our own Nick Sant Foster, and during Communion we will hear Niki Sumka who will be singing.
At coffee hour there will be several groups whose mission is tied to recovery who will have tables set up to share information.
This would be a GREAT day to invite someone you know whose life has been impacted by addiction of any kind.
Just over a year ago my best friend, Julius, lost his battle with addiction. He was the kindest, bravest, toughest, most talented & caring human being I have ever had the luck of knowing. In loving memory of Julius, we have created a non-profit called “Love More for Julius” dedicated to helping end addiction through music therapy/programs and anti-bullying initiatives. Julius is the reason I and many others are the musicians and people we have become. Our goal is to spread his music, and his message to “love more” around the world.
