Edge Parents Letter (important info)
Thanksgiving - Edge Parents Letter
Dear Parents and Family,
Please look at the announcements at the end of this e-mail.
At this week's Edge gathering, we discussed prayers of thanksgiving. This is one way to help us grow in our relationship with Christ. We discussed that we can be thankful for everything we have- from a simple toothbrush, to our families, to even our faith. Your child was encouraged to create a list of things that he/she is grateful for and present those before the Lord in prayer. We can never be thankful enough for God's love, but we should never stop trying!
Here are points we left our middle schoolers with this morning:
Prayers of thanksgiving help us to look at all of the gifts that God has given us.
It can be difficult to be thankful towards God when bad and evil things are happening. But, God never allows evil to exist in this world out of which He can't bring a greater good.
Sometimes bad things happen and we are not able to be grateful until we are able to look back on it in the future and realize how it made us better people, learn a difficult lesson, etc.
God wants us to share our lives with Him and talk to Him, just like we would a friend. Prayers of thanks and praise are one of the ways to share who we are and what we have with Him.
We can thank God for tangible things and intangible things. We also thank God for simply being who He is, like we see in the Gloria at Mass: "We praise you, we bless you, we adore you, we glorify you. We give you thanks for your great glory."
Here are some questions and discussion points for the ride home:
Share what you are thankful for in your life with your child.
What did you share that you were thankful for at Edge?
What can we be more thankful in our daily lives, especially when it's hard?
Rejoice always. Pray without ceasing. In all circumstances give thanks, for this is the will of God for you in Jesus Christ.
