From Mrs. Butler
We were so excited to welcome Mrs Michelle Barb, from Kidsmile Pediatric Denistry in Avon and Strongsville for a tour, great discussion and lunch! She and her husband, Dr. Jason Barb are proud parents of freshman, Massimo. Mrs. Barb is very interested in our plans for the Creator Space and the hands on experiences and collaboration it will offer our students!
We are moving closer to the completion of the new science lab. We are so grateful to all who have donated, designed, constructed and currently installing the furniture and fixtures! Our students are very anxious and excited to move into this new area!
Continued blessings to you and yours during this Advent season.
From Mrs. Lester
At the Mass of the Immaculate Conception last week, four students were awarded pillar awards for Elyria Catholic’s value of Compassion. As a core value of our school community, compassion is defined as being conscious of others’ distress and also having the desire to alleviate that stress.

Making Smart Choices
In high school, plagiarism or cheating can be a mechanism that students use to complete homework and assignments. With the advances in technology, plagiarism or cheating can be increasingly easy to accomplish. For example, students can use apps on their smartphones or take pictures of other students' work to assist them with cheating. Plagiarism can be done when words from the internet are copied and directly inserted into a student’s assignment.
At Elyria Catholic, we have strict guidelines that are listed in the handbook to handle such cases. We feel that it is important to address these situations carefully because at the college level, consequences can be very severe. Often, students are expelled from college campuses for plagiarizing. Parents, please help us in an effort to help students make smart choices in not cheating or plagiarizing.

News from Advancement
As the 2017 tax year draws to a close, perhaps you might consider making a gift to the Elyria Catholic Annual Parent Appeal. At the moment the Parent Appeal has brought in just over $15,000 but the goal is $29,000. Gifts to the Annual Parent Appeal benefit EACH AND EVERY STUDENT that attends our school. Any size gift makes a difference. Just send your check payable to Elyria Catholic High School in an envelope marked Advancement Office and we'll get you your tax receipt as soon as possible. Thank you for considering. - Merry Christmas!
