Tri-Parish Women's Retreat, Jan. 26 & 27
All women are invited to a retreat at St. Mary’s parish gym 106 E. 8th St. in Newton beginning Friday evening January 26th at 6:30 p.m. with a social and talks until 9:30 p.m. Saturday January 27th the retreat continues with an 8:00 a.m. Latin Mass followed with breakfast, more talks, Adoration, Sacrament of Reconciliation, lunch and concludes at 3:30 p.m. All women are asked to bring a couple photos (5x7 or smaller) of their family that can be used for the crafting portion to the retreat.
The retreat will be presented by, Sharon Witzell, program coordinator for Senior Adult Ministry in the Office of Marriage and Family Life for the diocese of Wichita.
The Church invites us to make our families a priority, because our children are the only possessions we will take with us into eternity. The family unit faces unprecedented challenges and threats today. On this retreat Sharon offers help and healing for families through her teachings on family systems theory backed with the use of Scripture and teachings of our Catholic faith.
Sharon has done graduate studies in Family Life Ministry and has a master’s degree in Education from the University of Kansas. She has been ministering to Catholic families for over 30 years instructing engaged couples and presenting marriage enrichment and marriage healing retreats and classes. She has taught numerous parenting classes and lead both grief and divorce support groups and women’s Bible studies. She is married to her husband ken and is the mother of six children and has 13 grandchildren. In her spare time, she enjoys playing with her grandkids, quilting, reading, cooking and traveling.

Rest in Peace - Virginia Payne
Virgin Payne died on January 2nd. The funeral will be at St. Mary on Tuesday, Jan. 9th at 10am with a rosary before at 9:30am in the church.
