Pay Attention! God is Speaking.
The LORD called to Samuel, who answered, "Here I am."…The LORD came and revealed his presence, calling out as before, "Samuel, Samuel!" Samuel answered, "Speak, for your servant is listening." (1 Samuel 3: 4, 10)
God called Samuel four times before he answered. He had previously called him 3 times and each time he answered, “Here I am.” Samuel thought it was Eli who was calling him. God again called the fourth time and this time Samuel answered, "Speak, for your servant is listening." It is only through the wisdom of Eli that Samuel realizes that God is calling him. God is also calling you. He is present in each of moment of your life. Are you listening? Some days, nothing seems to go right, no matter how hard you try or when you get into a tight place and everything goes against you, till it seems as though you could not hold on a minute longer, what do you do? Are you letting circumstances define you? What if God is trying to get your attention, are you listening or paying attention? In all circumstances, “We need to find God, and he cannot be found in noise and restlessness. God is the friend of silence. See how nature - trees, flowers, grass- grows in silence; see the stars, the moon and the sun, how they move in silence... We need silence to be able to touch souls.” (Mother Teresa) When God becomes the source of our inspiration and love, we, like Samuel, can be so effective in our words and actions. A smile or simple word of encouragement can set somebody up for the day, and a word of truth at the right time can help a loved one to move in the right direction. God is call YOU to make a different right where you are!
What can you do to make a difference in the lives of others today?
