Bishop Jaime Soto will preside on Monday, Jan. 22 at Mass on the National Day of Prayer for full restoration to the right to life. The bishop invites all Catholics in the Diocese of Sacramento along with people of good will to join together to observe the Diocesan Day of Reparation with fasting, prayer, penance and works of charity on Jan. 22, in reparation for the sinful national scourge of abortion. Jan. 22 marks the 45th anniversary of the 1973 U.S. Supreme Court decision, Roe v. Wade, which legalized abortion.
Bishop Soto will preside at Mass at 12:10 p.m. in the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament. The public is invited to attend. On Jan. 22, Bishop Soto asks all clergy to pray and preach for a merciful end to abortion and a revived promotion of the gospel of life, and to encourage all to observe the Diocesan Day of Reparation.
