The Gospel of Mark - The Rector's Forum
We've been studying the Gospel of Mark in the Rector's Forum for the past month or so.
to access all of the materials we've been using in our discussions - and feel free to come by any Sunday!
Lenten Backpack Food Drive
"Today, an estimated 16 million children in our country will go hungry everyday. That's 1 in 5 youth without access to nutrition. St. Mark's Youth Group is committed to helping meet these needs by sponsoring a Lenten Backpack Food Drive. We invite you to help us in this battle. Beginning on 13 February 2018, we will be accepting donations of snack-sized non-perishables to give to children in need through our foodbank. A donation box will be available at our Shrove Tuesday supper as well as in the Church.
Most helpful items include
: mini Chef Boyardee meals and tuna cans, Ramen Noodles, Easy Mac&Cheese packets or bowls, fruit cups, oatmeal packets, and granola bars. Your support is greatly blessed and appreciated."
Who will you invite?
at St. Mark’s begins on Sunday, February 25th, with a introductory session that gives potential participants a chance to see if Alpha is for them. Alpha is a practical introduction to the Christian faith and is open to anyone. It runs as a series of weekly meetings which each involve an informal meal, a talk, and a small group discussion. It is relaxed, nonthreatening, low key, friendly, and fun. Alpha is for everyone, especially those wanting to investigate Christianity, new Christians, newcomers to the church, and those wanting to brush up on the basics. But it all starts with you! We’d love it if you would sign up to attend. We’d love it even more if you invited someone you know who might benefit from it. Remember, while the program is 10 weeks long, all you are inviting them to is the introductory session, then they can make up their own mind about the rest. And, they (and you, if you come) get a free meal, and without even cleaning up! Please consider inviting a friend, relative, or co-worker. It all starts at 6 pm on February 25th! Contact Chip Hughes for details.
Girl Scout Gold Award Project
I’m Jasmine Zhang, currently a sophomore at the Lawrenceville School and a citizen of Basking Ridge. I am also a girl scout who’s doing her Gold Award, and I am transforming used sweaters into scarves and leg warmers to keep the homeless warm. I would love if you were able to donate any of your sweaters that are too small or you just don’t want to wear into the box!!!!
Look for the labeled box in the link and thank you in advance for your donations.

Bryan's Dream Event
12th Night of Hope & Dreams Gala for Bryan’s Dream Foundation
is Friday, March 9th at The Forest Lodge in Warren, NJ! A great night of silent and live auctions, a mystery raffle, dancing to the music of Déjà vu Disc Jockeys and lots of food and drink! You can RSVP to Nancy Opremcak (
) or order your tickets online at
! If you can donate an item or basket for our auction, please let us know that as well!
This year the event will feature a video celebrating our 12 years with Bryan and 12 years of Bryan’s Dream!
For many years, members of our parish have visited elderly parishioners who are no longer able to get out on their own. We would like to formalize this activity: Would you like to help out? Do you know of an elderly parishioner who you feel might benefit from visits? If so, please talk with Nancy Brangaccio or Jan Williams.
Come and join us for painting or other arts and crafts on a Tuesday in the Arts Studio downstairs. We usually arrive at around noon and finish by 4:00pm. Come for as long as you like. We work on our own paintings, have a great time together and help each other out. For more info contact Jenny Phillips 908-451-9638.
