Parent Letter: Dirt
Dear Parents and Family,
In preparation of Easter during this season of Lent, Edge is beginning a series called
a four-part series which began today and will continue our next three gatherings. We will unfold for the youth the incredible story of the salvation of all humanity. The youth will see that humanity was created in a perfect relationship with God and all of creation, but this relationship was broken by the first sin of Adam and Eve.
then reveals to the youth that this plan of salvation began at the Fall and was fulfilled once and for all in Jesus Christ. The youth will be inspired to go forth from this series as disciples of Jesus to share this great news of the salvation of all humanity. We will do this with four gatherings called Dirt, Fruit, Wood, and Fire (seen in graphic above).
Today began with a competition for the youth to make Creation Tableau. During the talk, the youth learned about the perfect beauty, peace, and love in which we were created and to which we are meant to return. After the talk, the youth had a small group bonding activity and created a group puzzle. The end of the session included a praise and worship experience focused on the creation of the world and the love and goodness of God.

We were created by God, in His image and likeness, in relationship with Him and in harmony with all of creation.
Our inmost being longs for this original holiness, the state of perfect beauty, peace, and love with which humanity entered creation.
We are destined to return to God in heaven and find again the perfect union that our first parents had with Him.
“Of all visible creatures only man is ‘able to know and love his creator.’ He is ‘the only creature on earth that God has willed for its own sake,’ and he alone is called to share, by knowledge and love, in God’s own life. It was for this end that he was created, and this is the fundamental reason for his dignity: ‘What made you establish man in so great a dignity? Certainly the incalculable love by which you have looked on your creature in yourself! You are taken with love for her; for by love indeed you created her, by love you have given her a being capable of tasting your eternal Good.’” (CCC 356)
“Then the Lord God formed man of dust from the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.” (Genesis 2:7)
Family Reflection Questions:
What Creation Tableau did your group make?
What did you learn about the creation of humanity?
What was it like in the very beginning when man and woman were created in the garden with God?
What does it mean to you to know that you were created in the image and likeness of God?
