Lenten Parish Retreat
Time! No one has time anymore. Time can be a thief. It can make you forget your mission and your goals; it can unbalance you. But time does not have to be our enemy.
We are presenting our parish with a Lenten Retreat. It is just 4 and ½ hours, including Mass, that may change you and help you to better prioritize your time.
You say it takes time to take part in a Retreat? Yes, yes it does but it is time well spent. Why? Well, first of all we all get caught up in life. We need to find a place to detox, to come away, to “pull back” which is exactly what the Latin word retreat means – to pull back.
The Retreat can help us put our world in perspective. We are constantly pulled in different directions. Taking some time away, refocusing, relaxing, thinking about things other than the traffic on the way home, or the burnt dinner, or “why won’t that child stop whining,” will help us to get our lives in better order. It may even mean that we find inspiration and learn to be able to use that inspiration to make this a better world.
Getting away from it all will help us refocus and find that place where Jesus is. At home, at work and even with friends, people are vying for your attention; making demands on you. Come away with Jesus for just these few hours and I am certain Jesus will help you to better handle these demands.
The word inspiration means to “breathe into” Inspiration is sometimes a frame of mind and can come from anywhere. Why not purposely try and find that inspiration? Why not breathe into something new? Be inspired.
There will be no phones, no kids, no co-workers, just you-listening and learning and letting go. The Retreat will help you put inspiration into action; inspiration that will help you bring that thing you love to fruition. It will assist you with those things you just can’t seem to get in order. It will give you the focus you need to really give yourself wholeheartedly to Lent. Finding the beauty within.
Society wants you to be the best mother, father, sister, wife, husband, friend, lover. Come and learn how to be the best at whatever you are. On retreat, you will be able to drop all the roles and see who you are in God’s eyes. You will get an inkling into who God created you to be and how he can help you to become all that he knows you are.
So, take the time to find your time. Your time is now. Who doesn’t want some of this?

As Lent is the time for greater love, listen to Jesus’ thirst…’Repent and believe’ Jesus tells us. What are we to repent? Our indifference, our hardness of heart. What are we to believe? Jesus thirsts even now, in your heart and in the poor — He knows your weakness. He wants only your love, wants only the chance to love you.
