A reporter boarded the train
carrying the Notre Dame football team to the Southern Methodist game. To get a new slant on the story he asked for the student manager. "I understand," he said, "that you have a chaplain to pray for the team. Would you mind introducing me to him?"
"Be glad to," replied the manager, "but which one do you want, the offensive or defensive chaplain?"
At a large and festive gathering
a young priest fell into conversation with a lady. The party was one in honor of the newly consecrated bishop, and so, the priest and the lady were discussing him. The young priest was extremely critical of the bishop and was in the middle of a long catalog of his faults when the lady stopped him.
"Do you know who I am?" she asked.
"No," replied the priest.
"I am the bishop's sister."
There was a long pause while the young priest and the lady looked at each other. Finally the priest spoke:
"Do you know who I am?"
