A message from Fr. Godfrey
Gaudete et Exsultate: REJOICE AND BE GLAD
"Pope Francis' Apostolic Exhortation
Gaudete et Exsultate
is the most readable, practical apolstolic exhortation I've ever seen. Becoming holy is the work of every Christian. He describes the practical ways of becoming holy and a few of the pitfalls." Fr. Godfrey
The introduction to the
GAUDETE ET EXSULTATE
OF THE HOLY FATHER
ON THE CALL TO HOLINESS IN TODAY’S WORLD
1. “REJOICE AND BE GLAD” (
5:12), Jesus tells those persecuted or humiliated for his sake. The Lord asks everything of us, and in return he offers us true life, the happiness for which we were created. We see it expressed in the Lord’s words to Abraham: “Walk before me, and be blameless” (
2. What follows is not meant to be a treatise on holiness, containing definitions and distinctions helpful for understanding this important subject, or a discussion of the various means of sanctification. For the Lord has chosen each one of us “to be holy and blameless before him in love” (

Every Christian is challenged, here and now, to be actively engaged in evangelization ; indeed, anyone who has truly experienced God's saving love does not need much time or lengthy training to go out and proclaim that love.
Pope Francis, Evangelii Gaudium
May Christ be heard in our language, may Christ be seen in our life, may Christ be perceived in our hearts.
