May flowers...at last!
As we near the time of my stepping down as Pastor of Assumption and Resurrection, I am counting the days--not because I can’t wait, but because I want to savor every one of them. Your presence in my life has been a joy beyond adequate description. Together we are building the Lord’s Kingdom and being the presence of God in our world. Thank you for being a part of this wonderful journey.

Mothers' Day Weekend
Treat your mom, or honor her with a special donation:
Moms (and children) in Kenya--
Open your heart to mothers in need. There will be a special collection this weekend in support of Joining Hearts and Hands and Building Futures, two wonderful charities helping women and children in Kenya. Both organizations were founded by parishioners. This collection is sponsored by the COTA Health Ministry.
(Saturday, May 12, 10am-4pm) Bring your mom's car (and go back with your car) to the Egypt Fire Station. Mom will appreciate having a shiny vehicle, and the COTA LifeTeen youth group will appreciate your support of this fundraiser!
Prayer Shawl Blessing (
Sunday, May 13 at the 8:30 am Mass at Assumption)
If your mom -- or anyone else you know -- is ill or otherwise in need of the warmth of extra prayers, choose a prayer shawl for her after the Mass. These shawls are made by members of the Assumption Prayer Shawl and Baptism Blanket Ministry, with love and prayer for the recipients.
Why not bring home a treat for Mom?
Bake Sale at Assumption, sponsored by the 50+ Group. (Proceeds will help defray group costs, and also go to the parish Mercy Fund and the Pennies for Sr. Karlien fund.). Drop off treats Saturday afternoon, or before Masses on Sunday, and stop by after Mass to find something delicious!
Over 73 children will be making their First Holy Communion at our parishes this weekend. Please welcome them to the Table of the Lord, and congratulate them and their families! It's also a good opportunity to reflect on the importance of the Eucharist in our own lives.
through bread and wine at the Last Supper,
and by your holy word,
you gave the Eucharist to your church.
You transformed common food and drink
into your Body and Blood,
and offered us a share in your life
in ways we still cannot fully understand.
Grant now that these young people
will always treasure the gift
they have in you.
Give them the grace to be faithful to you
and to remain in communion
with your church.
As they receive their first Communion,
the Bread of Life and Cup of Salvation,
make them always aware of the hope they have
for eternal life in you.
This month, Bishop Matano will Confirm 45 teens from Assumption and 24 teens from Resurrection. The outpouring of the Holy Spirit through
is a wonderful reminder of the amazing gifts which God has given each of us, gifts to be used in the service of others, and to grow in holiness. Please pray for our soon-to-be Confirmed students!
Celebrate with Fr. Ed
Tickets go on sale at both parishes the last two weekends in May for Fr. Ed's June 15 Retirement Party at Bushnell's Basin. All are invited to attend, but tickets will be limited, so get yours early. Watch our bulletins for more details!
