Weekend Newsletter - June 30/July 1, 2018 - Thirteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
I am Fr. Glen Jenson. I have been newly appointed to be pastor of your parishes of Sts. Peter and Paul and St. Thomas the Apostle. I will be moving into the rectory in Loretto and will be at three masses this weekend. I will be leaving on vacation to the North Shore on Tuesday, July 3rd for one week returning on the 10th. This was set up long before I knew that I would be transferring, as this is otherwise not the best time to be out of town.
For those who will be at masses that I can’t get to this weekend and those on vacations or at the cabin here is a little bit about myself. I was born in St. Louis Park and attended my parish school at Most Holy Trinity. I went to Benilde-St. Margaret’s for high school graduating in 1978. I went to the University of Minnesota graduating in 1984 with a double major in Business Administration and History. I worked for Lund foods for six years until entering the St. Paul seminary in 1990 and being ordained to the priesthood in 1995. I served for nine years in parishes in LeSueur County including the clusters of Montgomery and Shieldsville, Cleveland and Marysburg, and the single parish in New Market. I then served in Northeast Minneapolis for 13 years in a number of parishes which merged in 2013 becoming the single parish of the Church of the Holy Cross with three campuses as part of the Archdiocesan restructuring.
As you can see I am familiar with parishes in a rural setting and clustered parishes. I look forward to serving you. One thing that you should know about me as well is that I am in recovery as an alcoholic having completed a course of treatment in Hazelden at Center City MN recently. This was a blessed time of self-discovery and growth. The program there is really excellent. I gained great insight into how I unraveled around my use of alcohol in recent years. I have great accountability resources coming with me from Hazeldon to help bolster my recovery.
With that said I come to you feeling better than I have in years and looking forward to serving you with all my heart and strength. Together I pray that we will serve the Lord and make his Gospel of Hope shine.
Fr. Glen Jenson
