Dear people of St John’s and St Mark’s,
We know that many of you are more glued to the results of the Hunger Challenge than the World Cup. And who can blame you? It has been a riveting June! The competition ended at midnight on Saturday and by Sunday morning we were engaged in some last minute analysis that involved no Yellow Cards. The result has been certified and here it is:
It’s a DRAW!
As your rectors, we are so very proud that our parishes raised a combined +3,100lbs of food for the Food Bank Network of Somerset County! That so many of our dear neighbors will be beneficiaries of this fresh food this summer is blessing to all of us.
We are also blessed as two parishes to have each other, to pray with, to worship with, to serve alongside, and to engage in spirited competition to the benefit of others.
We declare that we are all winners here, with the hungry people of the Food Bank the greatest of winners. For those who would like to do a “victory lap” please know that we are keeping the links active for the month of July so feel free to continue to donate.
Many many thanks! Congratulations to all the winners and blessed summer!
Mother Susan and Father Rick
