Faith & Family Celebration
at Christ the King
Sunday July 22
All are invited to come to celebrate our Catholic faith and family life! This year we mark the 50th anniversary of the encyclical Humanae Vitae, which boldly and beautifully proclaimed Jesus’ teaching on the sacredness of marital love and the gift of children. The schedule of details are below!
11:30 a.m. – Lunch in school cafeteria by Holy Name Society
12:00 p.m. – Talk by Randy and Rachel Ormiston “Humanae Vitae, then and now”
(Babysitting will be provided during the talk!)
7:00 p.m. – Family Festival of Praise (outdoor Eucharistic Adoration)
8:00 p.m. – Outdoor movie, “The Incredibles”
Formation Series on Prayer
On July 12 at 7PM, Deacon Matt will begin a 3 part adult formation series on prayer. In the first session of the series, we will learn about praying with the scriptures using the time-honored Catholic tradition of Lectio Divina. After a brief discussion of where it comes from, we will dive in to how we can each do Lectio Divina ourselves. Bring a Bible if you have one! The other sessions will cover the Examen Prayer (July 26) and Praying with the Psalms (August 9).
Building the Domestic Church
A study group, formed by Christ the King's Knights of Columbus, open to everyone in the parish, begins July 10. We will study the booklet, "Into the Breach" by the Most Rev. Thomas J. Olmstead, Bishop of Phoenix, AZ.
Booklets are available through the council, and are free! Sign up for the study group by calling Adam Henderson at (316) 304-5721.
Please join us for this 4 week series at 7:00pm in Charity Hall on Tuesday evenings, beginning July 10.
Many employers offer matching gift programs and will match an employee's charitable gift. Below is a small list of known matching gifts companies, but there are many more out there!
If you work for a company that will match a donation, contact your HR Representative and request a matching gift form. Then fill out the form and submit it to the parish office with your gift. We will take care of the rest!
Please plan on attending the Midwest Catholic Family Conference this August 3-5, at Century II. This year’s theme is “One Lord, One Faith”. There will be some superb speakers including Scott Hahn, Tim Staples, Jennifer Roback Morse, Ph.D., Fr. William Wagner, ORC, Rev. Dennis McMaus and more! As always, there will be a Eucharistic Adoration, Holy Mass, Confessions, Outdoor Eucharistic Profession , vendors, and age specific conferences for pre-schoolers through high school. Bishop Carl Kemme will be the Celebrant and Homilist for Sunday’s Mass. These conferences are directed by members of different religious orders, and are supported by the volunteers of the Conference. Friday Opening Act will be Mark DeBoss, followed by a presentation from Scott Hahn. Closing the night will be a live concert with the band Ceili Rain!
