is on Tuesday. Students may wear dress code or better for pictures. Just a reminder that students will need the appropriate wear for recess and gym, this would likely include tennis shoes. Please send them along for these activities.

Want to help St. Matthew win a $25,000 or $1,000 prize? UnityPoint Health is sponsoring the “Imagine the Amazing” school contest. Now through Sept. 30th vote using the button below; vote as many times as you can throughout the day. The school with the most votes will win $25,000 and 10 runners-up will receive $1,000 to invest in health and wellness needs at their school. Anyone from anywhere can vote, so share this information with all your friends and family and help us win money for health & wellness!

St. Matthew School Future Saints Night Tailgate
Please RSVP using the link below if you are planning to attend St. Matthew School Future Saints Night Tailgate! The tailgate will take place in 3-4 reserved spots in the Xavier High School Parking lot, near the ticket booth (next to the soccer field).
We can set up on the grass by the soccer field fence (tables, tents, etc. are OK). We can not have grills/open flames.
Burgers, Hot Dogs, plates, napkins and condiments will be provided. We are asking those attending to bring something to share. Please see the sign up.
This is an event for the whole family...parents please plan to stay with your children and supervise them.

St. Matthew Spanish Club
Xavier’s Spanish National Honors Society is interested in putting on a Spanish Club at St. Matthew again this year. This would be an after school club that would happen on Thursdays from 3:00 - 4:00 PM until November 15th. Please complete the form below or return the hard copy that is being sent home this week. This will allow us to better understand the number of students interested in this program.

Xavier High School Events and Information
The annual Xavier Foundation parish appeal begins this weekend. Please consider your support of this effort through your prayers and generosity! A link is included below for you to learn more and financial support this cause.
Remember to Wear Your Xavier Gear This Weekend! We are encouraging all Xavier families and supporters to wear Xavier apparel to mass this weekend!
XCEED: Xavier Catholic Extraordinary Encounter Day
Xavier High School would like to extend an invitation to attend our XCEED Conference on Sept. 26th, at Xavier High School which will include international speaker Matt Fradd, local speakers, lunch, music and mass, fellowship and much more. Information is attached and sign-up is included here.
Xavier Girls' Basketball Boosketball Camp
Girls in Grades K-4 are invited to join the XHS Girls' Basketball team for some Halloween hoops, skills, fun & treats while playing basketball on Saturday, Oct. 20, 2018 from 9:30-11 a.m. at Xavier High School. Cost for this camp is $30 and includes a t-shirt. Registration deadline is 10/20/18. Sign up at
Pack the Gym for Nationally-Ranked Xavier Volleyball vs. Nationally-Ranked Cedar Falls!
On Tuesday, Sept. 25, Iowa's top-ranked Xavier Volleyball (Class 4A) will host top-ranked Cedar Falls (Class 5A) for "Pack the Gym Night!" Xavier is ranked 64th in the nation and Cedar Falls is ranked 24th -- we are encouraging all Xavier fans to join us to cheer the Saints on in this big match up.
All middle school volleyball players on Xavier Catholic School teams will be admitted to the game free when they wear their jersey.
Game Schedule for Tuesday Night:
Sophomore: 5:30pm - Xavier 11-0 (4-0) vs. Cedar Falls 8-4 (4-0)
Junior Varsity 5:30pm - Xavier 10-0 (4-0) vs. Cedar Falls 10-2 (4-0)
Varsity 7pm - Xavier 19-2 (4-0) vs. Cedar Falls 21-0 (4-0)

"Saint Paint" Reminder!
Show your Xavier Catholic School spirit with "Saint Paint" from the Xavier Dance Team! The Xavier Dance team will come to your house one weekend during September/October to paint your driveway with the Xavier halo cross logo. The paint is durable and will last up to one year. All logos will be centered at the end of your driveway and painted navy/silver. The logo size is approximately 2.5 feet wide by 3 feet tall.
There’s no better way to show your school spirit than with some Saint Paint from the Xavier Dance Team! Deadline to order is 10/15/18.

Parish Appeal Donation
Parent Handbook Highlight
Students may bring birthday snacks to share at school. If a student should wish to do this, arrangements can be made with the classroom teacher and the snacks will be passed and shared. We encourage you to find something that is pre-packaged/store bought to comply with the snack policy.
Essentials Team Highlight
In art class, we have been welcoming the students to the world of art! This last week the K-2 students have been working on colors--mixing of colors and the use of them. The older grades have been working on radial designs, landscapes and patterns! We also started our Art Club this week and it was great! --Mrs. Miller-Smith
