The 2018-2019 school year is now underway and our planning is already starting to begin for the 2019-2020 school year. One of the areas that we are taking a more in-depth look at is creating an Alternative Kindergarten (AK) program at St. Matthew. Alternative Kindergarten would be held five days a week (Monday through Friday) from approximately 8:15 AM - 2:00 PM.
For families interested in this program for the 2019-2020 school year, we are asking for your help in completing this survey to help us better understand your needs and how we can best tailor a program like this to meet the needs of our families.

Dress Code Reminder: Fridays at St. Matthew are now Spirit Fridays. This means the top your student wears can be anything with St. Matthew or Xavier on it. Your student may wear any type of bottoms, as long as they are season appropriate. As for the top - the outside layer must be St. Matthew or Xavier so we can clearly see this. If your not student is not wearing spirit wear, we ask that they be in dress code. Starting in the next few weeks, we will start to make calls home for students not in the appropriate wear. If you are needing spirit wear, please let us know and we would be happy to check the St. Matthew uniform exchange.
Essentials Team Highlight
Even though the calendar may say October, in the music room it is officially Christmas season. All of the grades began working on their musical this week. Even band jumped in on the fun and began to work on their music for the December concert. We are continuing to work on tempo terms: presto, moderato, and largo in grades K-2. And in grades 3-5 we are continuing to work on our note and rest value review. Next week a new composer will be introduced. Be sure to ask your student for some more information.
