Fr. Samuel's e-Epistle for October 5
Please pray for
her funeral Mass is tomorrow, Saturday at 10:30 AM at Queen of Angels Chapel.
Von Dixon and Phil Dietz,
who died this week.
Please join me on Monday evening for a Mass of Reparation
Bishop Vasquez has asked all parishes to celebrate a mass of reparation as a response to the clergy abuse crisis. This is in keeping with the fact that our faith teaches us that prayer must be our most fundamental response to everything in life. The mass at Emmaus will be at 6:00 PM on Monday evening, Oct. 8. It will be followed by a gathering in the narthex with refreshments and time to share questions and concerns.
Bishop Vasquez is celebrating a Mass a Reparation at St. Mary's Cathedral on Tuesday, October 9 at 6:30 PM. You may attend that, as well, if you like.
I will be away October 9 - 19
I am leaving on October 9 to spend some time on retreat at Lebh Shomea House of Prayer in Sarita, TX. This is a retreat house operated by the Oblates of Mary Immaculate. After some days in quiet solitude there I will be on vacation until my return on October 19. While I am away, Msgr. Bill Brooks will be presiding at the 8:30 AM and 10:30 AM Masses on Sunday, October 14. Fr. Rito will be available for any emergencies during my time away.
Thank you for Fall Fest
I extend my gratitude to all of you that attended Fall Fest. Thank you for the prayers for good weather as these allowed this event to proceed. I thank all of the volunteers that ran the game booths, ticket stations and did the set-up and tear-down. Thank you for the wine and cake donations. It was a joyful celebration of our parish and the Lakeway community. It was reminder to me of just how special our parish family is. These celebrations are important.
Yours in Christ,
Fr. Samuel Hose
From my last e-Epistle:
Blessing of the animals
We invite everyone to bring their pets to the Emmaus campus at 3:00 PM on Sunday, October 7 for our annual blessing of the animals. This is a brief ceremony, mostly because pets just want their blessings so that they can get on with other things important to them—doggies sniffing and cats meowing and that sort of thing. So please be on time.
