Just a reminder that conferences are next week and many thanks to you, we are 100% of our St. Matthew families signed up! As a mom, I enjoy these 15 minutes to get the insight of the teacher who ultimately spends just as much, if not more time, with them than me. Let's be honest, often times the kids we see from 5-10 PM are much different than the kids sitting in the desks from 8-3 PM! Enjoy the time and don't forget this is a partnership and we are here together to help do what is best for your student(s)!
: 1:00 PM - 7:00 PM (12:10 PM early dismissal for students)

Please Donate Extra Halloween Candy to Green Square Meals
Once again this year, we are looking for some awesome kids to help brighten the day of the guests at Green Square Meals! St. Matthew Parish assists in preparing a monthly meal at the local soup kitchen called Green Square Meals for more than 150 homeless individuals. These folks love Halloween as we all do, but they may not be able to celebrate it. We are hoping that St. Matthew students might want to share some of your candy with others, so they can have a fun Halloween too. If you would like to donate some of your Halloween candy (parents, that includes left overs at your house after trick-or-treating is done) to Green Square Meals, please bring it in and place it in the designated box by the school office on the days following Halloween. Our Club Fun students will be bagging up the candy to distribute. You can visit
St. Matthew’s Parish website under the Social Justice link
to learn more about our Green Square Meals ministry. Thank you for brightening the day of those who are less fortunate!
Reminder...R&R for Riesenbergs
We just wanted to remind you that there is still time to donate to our R&R for the Riesenbergs collection. As most of you know, Marie Riesenberg has been battling stage 4 breast cancer for almost 5 years. Her husband Scott and son Luke (2nd grade) have been her wing men, supporting her every step of the way. The fight they face continues to be a strenuous battle. We would like to help them take a family vacation to a beautiful beach, so they can have some time to rest and relax! A condo and one plane ticket has already been generously donated. If you would like to provide additional financial support a fund has been established thru Hills Bank. You can drop off/send a donation to any Hills Bank location or to the school office. Please address your donation to: R & R for Riesenbergs. Thank you, as always, for your prayers and support for this Jaguar family.

Parent Handbook Highlight
Discipline - it is one of those words that can make you cringe. In a recent review of the parent handbook, the current discipline area is quite vague. Please know that this will be the focus of some attention in the months ahead. What you need to know in the meantime is that we take a very collaborative approach to keeping our school safe. There is no magic formula when a student is sent to the principal's office, rather teachers use their best judgement. However, not all conversations with me will result in an email/phone call home; sometimes it is important to kids to understand that they can make mistakes and work through the process of rectifying it at school. We will certainly be in touch should we need to discuss something, but know that all conversations are for the benefit of making St. Matthew the best and safest place possible. -- Amy Conlon
