Congrats to Brianna Carney for being selected as the November Staff Member of the Month. Brianna has an infectious personality who is constantly going above and beyond to be part of the Jaguar community and for the benefit of students. From a minion, to Punky Brewster to Aloha theme, she rocked the dress up days this week! She is constantly finding ways to engage students in PE class, including her new activity, cup stacking! Thanks for all your work Brianna.
Iowa Statewide Assessment of Student Progress (ISASP)
ISASP is the new assessment (replaces Iowa Assessments) developed by Iowa Testing Programs at the University of Iowa for the state of Iowa. The assessments are aligned with the Iowa Core standards and provide a clear and accurate assessment of student learning outcomes. Student growth, proficiency and readiness indicators will be reported. The new assessments will be administered between March and May 2019; students will be testing in an online format through the use of iPads. We are still working, as a school, to determine the best typing option for the written portion of the assessment; this includes the possibility of purchasing keyboards for students to use during the test-taking.

Assistance for items/help
Please Donate Extra Halloween Candy to Green Square Meals
Once again this year, we are looking for some awesome kids to help brighten the day of the guests at Green Square Meals! St. Matthew Parish assists in preparing a monthly meal at the local soup kitchen called Green Square Meals for more than 150 homeless individuals. These folks love Halloween as we all do, but they may not be able to celebrate it. We are hoping that St. Matthew students might want to share some of your candy with others, so they can have a fun Halloween too. If you would like to donate some of your Halloween candy (parents, that includes left overs at your house after trick-or-treating is done) to Green Square Meals, please bring it in and place it in the designated box by the school office on the days following Halloween. Our Club Fun students will be bagging up the candy to distribute. You can visit
St. Matthew’s Parish website under the Social Justice link
to learn more about our Green Square Meals ministry. Thank you for brightening the day of those who are less fortunate!
Box Tops Thank You...Keep Them Coming!
Thank you for clipping and bringing in your Box Tops to donate to St. Matts. We recently turned in a huge box of them and we have a check for $397.40 coming back to our school. Your donations really do make a difference so keep clipping! Look for another contest in the spring!
The next Parent Association Meeting will be held on November 19th. Minutes from the October meeting are below.

Go Saints -- Mrs. Conlon
Essentials Team Highlight
In music we have been trying something new with the 1st through 5th grade students. We have being using centers for the past couple of weeks. In these centers, students are working on note value identification, music symbol identification, learning about Scott Joplin (our featured composer), and getting the opportunity to have small group assessment with me. This allows me a chance to see a performing art in context! We are all continuing to learn our Christmas music and the hymns that we sing at mass.
