Halloween and Christianity...
Trick or Treat...
Today, all around the world Catholics celebrate Halloween. Halloween is 2 words brought together:
Hallow (Holy) + Een (Evening) = The Holy Evening before All Saints day.
Is it alright to go "trick or treating"? Of course, but we should remember the purpose ~ it's to honor and celebrate All the Saints in Heaven. Heaven is where we want to go & the Saints show us how to get there ~ only thru & w/ Jesus. All of the candy reminds us of the sweetness of heaven and what awaits us in the life to come...
If you are going out this evening, remember to be safe, take precautions, pray before you go out, don't eat to much candy and have fun. Invoke your favorite Saint(s).
Nov. 1st is also a Holy Day of Obligation so we will save you a place at Mass.
Our Mass schedule: this evening (Wed.): 5:30 pm. Tomorrow (Thurs.) 6:30 am, 8:15 am and 5:00 pm.
