Children's Book Drive - sponsored by Marion Metro Kiwanis
Many children in our community do not learn to read well because they have no books of their own. A good book can open the door to learning. We would like to be able to provide the gift of reading to them at the holiday season. Marion Metro Kiwanis will be collecting new and gently used books for disadvantaged children from
November 26th through November 30th
. All books must be at school by Friday, November 30th. A table will be provided at the main entrance for the collection of books to be donated. Thank you for your support!
SafeTouch - Monday, November 12th (K-2)
The SafeTouch program educates children in preschool through fifth grade about protective behaviors and gives them guidelines on what constitutes a “safe touch.” Mrs. Staudacher will teach children that their bodies are special and that no one has the right to give them a touch they don’t want. By presenting the SafeTouch program in schools, preschools, daycare centers and other settings, the Child Protection Center’s goal is to reduce the occurrence of child sexual abuse in our community.
Students in kindergarten through second grade will participate in the program on Monday, November 12th. Grades three through five will participate in the SafeTouch program in the spring and more details will be shared as the time gets closer.
For children in preschool and kindergarten, we have a video entitled, “Joey Learns the Touching Rule.” For children in preschool and kindergarten the video is preceded by a discussion about good, bad, and secret touches. Following is a dialogue about the video, the SafeTouch Rules, and who they can go to for help.
For students in first grade, we have a video entitled, “It’s Your Body: You’re In Charge.” This is preceded by a discussion about good, bad, and secret touches and followed by dialogue about the video, the SafeTouch Rules, and who they can go to for help.
For students in the second grade, we have a video entitled, “You Are in Charge of Your Body.” This is preceded by a discussion about good, bad, and secret touches and followed by dialogue about the video, the SafeTouch Rules, and who they can go to for help.
Please see the attached flyer regarding the Saints baseball program. More information, including registration information is included in the link. Registration ends November 25th.

Message from the Principal
Thank you for your partnership as we support our high school, Xavier. It was great to see the enthusiasm from students this week as we cheered on our volleyball and football teams! We will have one more "extra" fall spirit day next Thursday as we cheer on the Saints football team in the 3A Championship game! Go Saints!
-- Mrs. Conlon
Essentials Team Highlight
In PE, we are currently participating in table ball. It is something new that I have just learned and am enjoying seeing how much fun the students are having. A big thing I want students to remember is to have fun and try their best. Certain skills and games may be challenging. However, I know each and every student is capable of trying in order to get better and eventually succeed. I am always encouraging a positive attitude and not allowing students to believe they cannot do something.
Also the link to order speed stacking cups and any other accessories is below, since we just finished that unit and I know students took a high interest in it.
As it starts to get colder, take advantage of those warmer days to get outside before it is too late! As always have fun and get your sweat on.
