Fr. Rick's Blog
Jesus said, “There will be signs in the sun, the moon, and the stars, and on the earth distress among nations confused by the roaring of the sea and the waves. People will faint from fear and foreboding of what is coming upon the world, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Luke 21:25 ..
Keansburg Soup Kitchen - Wednesday, Dec 5
We have posted a new
for next week's trip.. Thank you for your generosity in helping our friends at St. Mark's in Keansburg.
Creche Service, December 16th
The annual Creche service is coming up on December 16th. Our dress rehearsal for all participants will be on the 15th at 9am. We encourage all of the youth to participate as readers, ushers, figure carriers, wearing a costume (animals, angels, shepherds, stars, kings), or carrying a banner.
This service is also an opportunity for outreach as we welcome the congregation to bring wrapped gifts of warm clothing, labeled for boy or girl (and size or age), on the 16th to the service.
Please email Samantha Glass at
to let us know how your youth would like to participate or you can pick up a form in the link at church and return it by December 9th.
If you no longer have a child or youth at home or just want to spread holiday cheer, please consider inviting relatives, friends or neighbors to participate — all are welcome.
Advent Brunch - Sunday, December 9th
Food, fun, & fellowship! There is a sign up sheet in the link for our annual Advent Brunch. If you can't make it in this week to sign up, please contact the office so we have an idea of how many tables to put out. Please plan to bring a dish to share - casseroles, salads, etc. Omelets and ham are on us!
Gifts at the Creche Service
Quite a long time ago, we heard from Marie Scannell at the Somerset County Food Bank that the children of her families did not always get much for Christmas. And, even worse, that many times, they did not have warm clothes for the winter. From that observation has developed a cherished tradition for St Marks. We decided to bring presents of clothing for these children......outfits, sweaters, coats......something new and warm to wear in the winter months to school.
We wrap and label them Boy/size Large or Teenage Girl/size 6, etc. and we bring them up to the altar during the Creche service. Some of us tuck in a candy cane or matchbox car - feel free to include a toy. But, all of us feel the joy of sharing with others.
Please join us during the Creche Service with your present to the children at the Food Bank.
Holiday Food Bank Collection
We will be collecting holiday donations for the Food Bank right up to December 16th. Please bring turkeys, hams, or roasting chickens to church and leave them in the kitchen freezer. You can also donate $$ using the basket in the Narthex. Let's remember that we are grateful we can give at this time of year to help those who need us!
