WEEKLY UPDATE- FIRST SUNDAY OF ADVENT
How will you prepare for the coming of Christ this Advent?
“Beware that your hearts do not become drowsy from carousing and drunkenness and the anxieties of daily life, and that day catch you by surprise like a trap. For that day will assault everyone who lives on the face of the earth. Be vigilant at all times and pray that you have the strength to escape the tribulations that are imminent and to stand before the Son of Man.”
"The days are coming, says the LORD, when I will fulfill the promise I made to the house of Israel and Judah."
This Week At St. Francis...
Haiti Twinning Program
For many years, we have felt the need to reintroduce our Haiti Twinning program to the people of St. Francis, to retell the story of the people who have touched the lives of so many. This weekend, we are happy to have our former pastor, Fr. John Kiefer, back with us to tell the story of our Haiti Twinning program. We have given much to the people of St. Michael, but the gifts of love, friendship, and prayers they have given us in return, are far greater.
Two months ago an earthquake hit Plaisance, causing major damage and making the church and rectory unusable for their pastor, Fr. Pedro, and the parishioners of St. Michael. This damage and the need to rebuild, has put even greater demands on their limited resources. with this in mind, St. Francis will be focusing on our brothers and sisters of St. Michael's this Advent.
What can you do to help?
+Pray for our brothers and sisters in Haiti and ask God what He wants you to do to help.
+Read the handout in this weekend's bulletin, "St. Francis of Assisi and St. Michael in Plaisance, Haiti: A Twinning History"
+Take a tag from our Giving Tree to help provide school supplies, funds for teachers, and vitamins for St. Michael.
"In those days, in that time, I will raise up for David a just shoot ; he shall do what is right and just in the land."
A free booklet entitled
"St. Francis Used Words"

"In those days Judah shall be safe and Jerusalem shall dwell secure; this is what they shall call her: “The LORD our justice.”
True or False: Christians have always believed that the New Testament has made the Old Testament invalid. (See CCC 123 for clues)
True, the only reason the Old Testament is included in the Bible is so that we better understand our history.

False, this is the heresy of Marcionism. Christians venerate the Old Testament as true Word of God and the Church vigorously opposes the idea of rejecting the Old Testament under the pretext that the New has rendered it void.
